Well, today is July the fourth, and I have just returned from the old American celebratory tradition: blowing stuff up. I suppose it's fitting that we choose to celebrate our independence from foreign rule by exploiting the ingenuity of other nations. Ironic, at least, that the "American" tradition of fireworks was actually started in China. Just a thought I had while watching the fireworks display from the top of the family minivan.
Anyways, it was a good fourth. I got off work early because there was nothing to do. Then I played with my neighbors' dogs, which I've been taking care of the past couple days. And this evening was the community band concert. Mr. McKinney was sweating up a storm, as always, and one of our out of town guests was from the Netherlands. (not of explanation: at some point during each concert McKinney invites all visitors from out of town to come forward and receive a small gift from the band--random baked goods and Brookings propoganda. it's fun and it gives us band members a chance to rest our chops) And Dan Bielfeldt's dad played his accordion, with Dan on tenor sax. I swear, that boy gets taller every time I see him. He's got to be over 6'6". And skinny as a rail to boot. Kind of looks like a scarecrow. Which reminds me, yes Dianna, the character I meant was Dr. Crane, I just couldn't remember his civilian name when I wrote the earlier post. Now, on the other hand, I've seen the movie three times and have caught a great many things that I missed the first time around. But I digress.
In an effort to entice as many people as possible to the Arts Festival next weekend, I urge you to check out the website: www.bsaf.com I know there must be a way to make that a link, but I'm too tired to deal with that right now. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to end my ramblings before they really get started in order to be awake tomorrow when I go to Sioux Falls.

Days to Arts Festival: 5
Oh, and if you do end up coming to the Festival, I should be in the park all of Saturday, but I will be busy at the pizza booth on Sunday afternoon.

yay!
i just felt like saying that.
Anyhoo.
Bielfeldt is very very tall. What's weird is that whenever I think of the BHS debate team, Dan is who pops into my head. He's just sooo tall that I could just look for him at tournaments and be like, "oh, there's Brookings. Brookings is here."
Anyhoo again.
Currently, it is 10:30, and we'll be getting together for lunch in half an hour. I better make sure Mom's awake.
