My car has special needs...

Well, I don’t know when I’ll get around to posting this one, but I thought I’d start writing it now nonetheless. Today my dad and I began the adventure of trying to get Beegee up and running again. For those of you who don’t know, Beegee is my little blue car. A 1989 Pontiac GrandAm who has certainly seen better days.

So the first thing we did this afternoon was to take off the flat rear tire and put on the donut, with the idea that we would then drive to a gas station and put air in that one, as well as the front two which are a bit low. Unfortunately, Beegee wouldn’t start. So we tried to jump him from my dad’s little red station wagon. That didn’t work. Apparently we need the better cables, which are in the van. So we took the flat tire with us to run errands and got it filled up. I can only assume we’re going to put it back on before we try to jump the car again.

Now, I’m really hoping we can get Beegee to run again. It’ll make life a lot easier for us this summer if I’m not constantly borrowing Kevin’s car or the van to go to work and other places. Besides, Beegee is a good little car for the most part. He’s the only car we have with a CD player and I’m just plain used to driving him. Although, he does have his little quirks. For instance, the radio keeps playing after the engine has been shut off for about a minute, unless, of course, you nudge the wiper control. So if it’s raining and you forget to turn off the wipers, the radio stops right away. Then there’s the thing with the oil. I have never changed the oil. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s running on old oil. With Beegee, you just end up replacing the oil. I know that’s a bad thing, but I really don’t know what to do about it. We may take a look at that this summer too.

One thing that really makes Beegee mine (in spite of the fact that I don’t actually own him or pay for him) is one thing I’ve done to the interior. If you’ve ridden with me before you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a sticker on the inside of the windshield that reads: “Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.” It makes me smile every time I slide into the seat.

And the saga continues. It is now rather late at night, and my car still does not work. We took a break from the car to see Star Wars, and then ended up having dinner with Amanda and her parents. Then Amanda came over to help with my car. And I am proud to say that the two of us girls changed the tire back from the spare to the newly-inflated actual tire all by ourselves. Not that it did us any good in the long run.

So then we started trying to jump it again. Using the van, we got my car going and it seemed like we were in business. But before we could get the van out of the way to drive out of the driveway, my car died. So we jumped it again. And it died. So we jumped it again. And it died. Again. Then we got it running (if I kept my foot on the gas) and we were going to have me drive it around the neighborhood to get it warmed up or whatever, but it died when I put my foot on the break to shift gears. So then we tried again with my dad driving (just to prove that it wasn’t only my bad driving) and it died again. So we’ve given up for now. Apparently my little car has more issues than we thought it did.

So, let’s end this post on a happier note. After failing with the car, I set out for WalMart with Amanda and Kevin. While we were there we encountered Brandi, who I hadn’t seen for quite some time. Happiness ensues at the meeting of long-separated friends. :) At WalMart I randomly purchased the Phantom of the Opera on DVD and a spiffy Star Wars poster of Jedi. It features prominently Yoda and Obi Wan, my two favorites. It also has Wookies on it, which is cool but, they’re not Jedi, so it is a bit perplexing. But it’s too late at night for me to be using big words. So I think I’ll wrap this up and go to bed.

God bless.

depending on if you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal constantly even if you are shifting. It sounds like the EGR valve is giving you a few problems also you might have to take it into a car shop to have them recalibrate the computer. Just because it is an 89 doesn't mean it doesn't run on computer and is fuel injected. Take it into a shop and have them run a diagnostic on the car. Because the Battery was wiped out it erased the proper setting for how the computer maintains the engines regular inputs and outputs of fuel regulations. Course that is just a thought, and only a thought, I am sure your father is quit knowledgeable in the subject and would be able to figure it out. But you know me, always tryingto help in any way I can. ;) you take care.

still praying for your job situtation, I'm hoping everything goes alright.

Jedi Poster huh, hmmm I see you turning to the dark side though. "Feel you moving I do" ;)
Plus there is no relation to the Wookies maybe the little fur ball guys from Return if the Jedi. (right height?)j/k

P.S. Thinking about reading a book? Try "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, I'm rereading it for the summer, hopefully I will have enought free time to read all of it.

P.S.S. check your email as well.

Hmm..does seem like beegee (awsome name by the way) needs a little help from the auto doctor..I agree with Jess being I work at tires plus here in sufu. But I did just get a new car..a 1994 acura integra..it's getting body work done right now..but I already have it hooked up for a stereo system..

I'm thinking I need to go to brookings..well actually lake brant and visit my gramps and tell him about my new found job and car..he'd be proud of me..and so would grams.

I am soooo glad I chose that sticker for you! I never thought it would be so meaningful...mayhaps I've underestimated the value of stickers vs. the candy I almost got. YAY DRAGONS AND KETCHUP!!
Peace & Love, Brandi

And the car still does not run. After charging overnight it ran yesterday, though poorly and we hoped that it would be okay. But, alas, today it would not start again. So it looks like I'll be doing quite a bit of car sharing with my mom and brother.

I don't know if you know this, but later on in Star Wars Chubaka (sp?) has a kid and he becomes a jedi. x3 How cute is that?
