I love getting mail

Twice this week I have been blessed with surprise packages from people. I think there is nothing better for making a person feel loved when far away from home than taking the time to send something. Phone calls are great, too, but packages take planning.

The first one came on Tuesday. It was from Kevin, but I wasn't able to determine that until after I found the packing slip with the gift message, as the box had been shipped from ThinkGeek. He sent me a bookworm! A yellow, plush bookworm that is adorable. In fact, it falls into the category of "so ugly it's cute." I don't know if you've ever seen anything like that, but trust me, there are a lot of little animals that belong in the category. My bookworm, Skushi, is one of those creatures.

The second package came today. I was incredibly surprised to see the email from the mail room telling me to come pick it up, especially since there was no indication of the sender, as there sometimes is. This box was from a group of amazing USF-ers (pronounced "us-furs"). So Ashley, Dustin, Lauren, Liberty, Liessman and Sherwin, thank you! Even more than the chocolate and other munchies inside the box, seeing those names on the return address label really made my day.

It's good to have friends.
